So...They Are Not WoW...

Okay I got schooled on some of the people listed below.  As a general rule of thumb, if I said "World of Warcraft" replace that with "League of Legends."

Sorry people.  I've never played, or even looked at League of Legends.  I'm a deek by nature, not a video game fanatic.

FIRST PLACE

I hate to cheese out but...too bad.  We have a four way tie for first place.  This group were arguably the best of the best at PAX.

First of all - Joker - He was the only Joker at PAX and he pulled it off.  Between the hat, the beard, and the outfit.  Awesome Joker.

Tali - I was hoping I'd see someone attempt a Quarian.  I didn't expect anyone to pull one off but...wow.  She was an awesome Quarian.  She did Tali proud.

EDI - There were a couple EDIs at PAX.  I didn't think anyone could pull it off but she did. Almost flawless EDI outfit!

Then we have Shepard.  There were a lot of Shepards at PAX.  This one was the best. While the costume wasn't as flawless as some of the others, she nailed the look!  She used makeup to give herself the scars, nailed the hair, and ended up looking like she stepped off of the screen.

So there you have it.  These four get to share first place.

SECOND PLACE

It's one thing to have a costume that is accurate.  It's another thing to pull off a face character (sorry don't know if they use that term in cosplay, but we do in deek) that is so close to the actual thing you could make people do a double take.  I was in line when this guy walked by.  I had to stop him to grab this photo.  This is the best Rob Stark costume I've ever seen.

THIRD PLACE

This is a well deserved third place.  This girl didn't go out and buy a professional costume.  She made this Marauder costume from Mass Effect 3 from scratch.  A vast majority of this costume cannot be bought.  Did you notice her feet?  She pulled off the Turian legs. 

Beyond what you can see - She was in pain.  Do you know what's keeping her helmet on? A coat hanger strapped under her chin.  Parts of this costume were digging into her too.  For her dedication she earned third place!

Shepard Redux

The detail on this costume is over the top.  She knocked this one out of the park.

Aria

I really went back and forth trying to decide if this one made the top three.  She is an almost flawless Aria T'loak.  You'd have a hard time beating this costume.  

big...Big...BIG!!!!

Here is another one where the photo doesn't do this guy justice.  This guys wasn't big.  He was HUGE!  I think he was the biggest guy at PAX.

Bring It On!

I'd hate to work security at PAX or ComicCon.  Can you imagine dealing with guys like this?

Where's the Battle!?!

I could have done without the blood.  Other than that, that attention to detail is great.

You have to love it when people have fun.  You can tell these two are having fun.

Team Fortress 2?

I think she's from Team Fortress 2.  I've never played it so I am guessing.  I swear more than half the people I captured, I have no idea who they are.

Purple Girl!

Okay...again....I have no idea.  I can't even guess.  I'm assuming these two relate to each other but I could be way off on that.

Mortal Kombat?

I don't know who these guys are.  I can only guess.  I think they are two of the ninjas from Mortal Kombat but I cold be way off.

Borderlands Two

This is another one where the photo doesn't do it justice.  Then again, I should have shut off the flash so you could see that globe in her hand.  It was impressive.  If you don't know this is one of the characters from Borderlands 2.

Red Wizard

I think she is some kind of Red Wizard...from the original Final Fantasy?  Maybe?  I don't know.  Maybe someone will fill me in.

PORTAL!!!!!!

This photo doesn't do these guys justice. They were top ten material. One: The portal guns light up.  Two they had attitude.  Three: They were energetic and you could tell they were having fun!

Costume....Check!  Pink hair.....Check!  Weapon....Check!  Smile....Smile?  Okay...no smile....Check!

There Will Be Weapons!

There are big cosplay weapons, and then there are BIG cosplay weapons!  Rule of thumb, your weapon can never be too big!

Ghost Busters!

There are good Ghost Buster costumes and then there are great Ghost Buster costumes! This one is amazing! I really should have shut the flash off so you could see all the lights on this proton pack.

Vampire Girl + Giant Axe

So...I might have accidently captured the same person twice...Hey at least it's a really good one!

Little Bo Peet?

Okay I know this isn't Little Bo Peet.  Not unless Little Bo Peet started issuing beatdowns with a giant staff.  Did that happen in some fan fiction I don't know about?

Uummmmmm....

1. I don't know what character she is.

2. I don't know why she had to bend over when I took her photo.

Fighter

Okay, he's got a sword.   That's about all I know.  The sword was one of the best I saw at PAX.

Another World of Warcraft?

I think this one is WoW.  I'm not totally sure of that.  I do know that this one was brutal.  Look at her feet.  Those are hooves.  She could barely walk around.  That's dedication.

Scarecrow From Batman?

Is this Scarecrow from Batman?  I think it is but I'm not sure.

It's Mario!

Here is an awesome Mario.  He's even got the mustache...and it's not fake!  Awesome job!

Not Your Typical Police Officer

I don't know what game she's from.  I appreciate the effort on this one but I'm not a big fan of the skimpy outfits.  They could be dead on with the character but you'd never know because there is so little fabric.

Princess Elsa

All deeks know who this one is.  It's Princess Elsa!

Commander Shepard

Here is one for the Mass Effect fans out there.  An awesome Fem Shep.  Now she could have made the top three except there were four that were better than here.  Yes, there is another runner up to the top three.  I'm not kidding people.  The quality was off the chart at PAX East.

Bioshock

I am fairly confident in saying that this guy is from Bioshock. I think he's one of the guys protecting the freaky girls.  Hey, don't hate.  I never played Bioshock.  Anyways, if you look close you'll see that he has lights on his outfit too.  Awesome job!

Boba Fett

Here is one I know.  I think most people know Boba Fett when they see him.  This one is amazing.  The only reason it's not making my top three is because the quality of the outfits at PAX East was that good.  Just imagine what the top three are like if this guy didn't make it.

Fem Vader

I know this one!  How often do you get to see a Fem Vader? I kind of felt bad for her.  I can't imagine how hot this outfit was.  One look tells you it's not breathable...but it is awesome.  I just hope she made it through the day.

Carboard Girl

Cardboard, leather, and some armor on the arms...I'm stumped.

Guy From WALL-E

I don't know who most of the characters on this blog are, but I know this one!  I'm a Disney fan.  Any deek worth his salt knows this guy.  It's one of the humans from WALL-E!  Awesome costume!

Welcome! This blog is dedicated to the cosplayers at the Penny Arcade Expo East.  The first 50 or so posts are going to be the worst (not may of those) to the decent, to the amazing cosplayers.  The last three will be my personal top three.
