Here is first place. They are not the most detailed or the most polished, but they represent what PAX should be. Two generations having fun and spending time together.

2016 PAX East - Second Place
Here is second place. Out of all the people I've photographed at PAX, this has to be one of the most detailed I've ever come across. If you don't know who this character is, look up Cole from Dragon Age Inquisition. She nailed this cosplay in every way. What's more impressive is that her costume looks home made.
2016 Pax East - Third Place
It's time for our top three! Here is our third place selection. Why did she make it in the top three? For a number of reasons. One - the costume is detailed and fits like a glove. Two - her overall attention to detail is incredible. Third - The eyes. She goes to a level that others did not.
Whooping Stick
So we now know where people get their costumes. Urban Outfitters has a secret room. They even sell extra large whooping sticks.
More Props
There are props and then there are PROPS. I have no idea where this guy got that book, or if he made it himself, but it makes for a near perfect look.

Couples
One fun thing you run into at PAX are the couples. You'll see a few that match up their costumes to really go above and beyond.
It's All About the Clothes
A costume doesn't have to be built from hand or expensive. In this case it's just some normal cloths combined in the right way with a red wig.
Don't Forget the Lights
With the lighting it's hard to get the full effect of this one. In the dark I bet it's really impressive. That lightsaber is glowing red.
Above and Beyond
Here we have an example of what separates the the professional cosplayers from the rest. From the top down this guy nails every detail. There are no shortcuts to be found in this one.
It's the Small Things
The armor here most likely took a lot of time to pull off. However, making gloves out of the same material is really hard. To finish the look he used some motocross / mountain biking gloves. It works and finishes off the look.
Ingenuity
Think you can't come up with an outfit? It doesn't have to be expensive. Look closely. This guy is wearing a bathrobe / boxing robe, a hunting vest, a plastic helmet, and he's carrying a run of the mill American flag. It gets the job done for a small price. That's some good old fashion PAX ingenuity.
Sweat Machine
It gets pretty warm inside the convention center. If you have an outfit like this, you better be wearing some heavy duty deodorant. You are going to sweat a lot.

Pick a Card
I don't know what's more interesting; this guys costume or trying to figure out what that...person in the background is.

More Guns!
Here is someone I would not want to be behind at the airport. That gun looks real if you are look quickly. Sure when you look closely it's not, but it's still very detailed.
Scoby Doo!
Pax isn't just for video games. You'll see a lot of other cosplayers too. Here is an awesome Thelma and Shaggy!

....Walk Into PAX
Stop me if you've heard this one. A female "Where's Waldo", a guy who looks like a bumble bee without the antenna, and the Sorcerers Apprentice walk into PAX....

What Did I Just See?
It's time for another PAX East "What did I just see?" moment. With all the craziness at PAX it's hard to for anything to really surprise you. Then you see something like this.
What are you looking at? An odd guy who packed about a dozen full sized Old Spice deodorant sticks into his hoodie pouch. What's really odd is that they were not giving these away. Where did he get so many and why does he need them?

Non-Face Character
If you go by Disney standards, you have two different kinds of characters. You have the normal characters and the face characters. This would be an example of a normal character. They are always fun.

Foot In Mouth
I'm putting these guys together because they were hanging out together and I think they are from the same game. I might be putting my foot in my mouth here, but I think these guys are from Devil May Cry.
Unknown Character
Here is one where I'd need help. I have no idea which character this is or even the game. Maybe someone can fill me in.
Zelda Cosplay
There are a lot of characters you could choose from the Zelda cannon. This is one of the more offbeat choices that requires a lot of effort to pull off.

By the Bathrooms
Ironically by the bathrooms are a great place to catch people. Normally they are waiting for their friends who are wearing something that takes about ten minutes or more to get out of so they can actually go. :)
LoL
I really need to loop up who this character is. I'm guessing she's from League of Legends. I should look it up since I captured the same character a couple years ago and there were multiple of them at PAX this year.
The Dark Side
The Sith seemed to be popular this year. There was a lot of Star Wars to begin with, but a lot of people seemed to be embracing the dark side.

Boba Fett
One thing I love about PAX is the huge mix of characters you run into. This was one of a number of Boba Fetts.
Weapons Part 1
You see a lot of different weapons at PAX. A number even mix it up with a shield like this one. This fan went all out. Great attention to detail.

Dr. Gordon Freeman - Half Life
Here is a great Doctor Gordon Freeman from Half Life. You have to love the detail put into this one.
Upstaged :(
I hate to say this, but these awesome cosplayers got upstaged. I unintentionally captured an epic, awkward, man hug in the background. It even has the bald head grab.
